About Professor Bruhnev

I hold a master’s degree in English Language and Literature from an internationally recognized European University and a Teaching Certificate from the State of Illinois. Ever since obtaining my degree, I have taught classes in writing, translation, ESL/EFL, literature, civics, TOEFL, cultural communication as well as some business classes, mostly at City Colleges of Chicago, Chicago Public Schools, the University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, my own private language school, the UOTP, and at various private language schools in Chicago – where I have lived for over 20 years. I have also worked throughout the years as a bookseller, translator, tour guide, and have co-written internationally two books on translation. I am passionate and enthusiastic about life-long learning, literature, languages, and travel, and above all, want to be able to inspire my students to be excited about learning and experiencing new languages and cultures, as well as to be responsible and hard-working individuals with a global perspective.

3 things I’d like my students to know about me…

1. Love travel and exploring ancient and modern cultures.

2. Love hiking and exploring.
3. Use all my exploring and experience to bring some real world vibes to the classroom.
